Marset Reimagines Lauro Lighting Collection with a Nod to 1970s Design

Spanish design house Marset has revitalized its celebrated Lauro lighting collection, initially conceived by designers P Aragay and J Pérez Mateo, which evokes the distinct design sensibilities of the 1970s.

First unveiled in 1973, the Lauro lighting range distinguished itself through its continuous steel stem and base, a remarkable feat of engineering at a time when bending steel posed significant manufacturing challenges. Marset highlights this collection as a testament to technical prowess achieved half a century ago, simultaneously affirming the enduring power of exceptional design. The reintroduction features the original table and floor variants, characterized by sturdy tubular stems that appear to cascade onto surfaces, and introduces a contemporary twist with a brand-new wall lamp. Each luminaire in the series boasts adjustable shades that can be moved vertically and rotated, allowing users to precisely control the light's direction.

According to Marset, the Lauro's construction and material choices resonate with the emotive design language of yesteryear, fostering a connection to the past. In an era demanding elegant and substantial objects that evoke emotion, inspire, and captivate, the reissued Lauro collection perfectly meets this contemporary need, offering a blend of nostalgic charm and modern functionality.

The relaunch of the Lauro lighting collection not only celebrates historical innovation but also underscores the idea that truly great design transcends time. By honoring the past while embracing the present, Marset encourages us to appreciate the enduring value of quality craftsmanship and thoughtful aesthetics in our rapidly evolving world.
